Gilmoor Vets is a multi-site veterinary practice (three branches are mentioned on its website). Based on owner reports, it appears set up for routine preventive care (vaccinations, boosters and check-ups), planned surgery (spaying is described in detail), weight management support (regular weigh-ins and body condition scoring), and at least some out-of-hours appointments. Reviews strongly disagree on experience: many describe friendly, informative staff and good handling of nervous/anxious pets, while a small number report feeling rushed, facing high costs, or being unhappy with how a sick pet was assessed.

Was shouted abuse at in the reception by another customer, reception just sat there. As for the vets there's always an excuse or a cost. Avoid

Excellent veterinary practise. Our two dogs love going for their check ups and boosters as they know they get a treat and a cuddle.

The staff are so friendly and helpful and accommodating! Possible late arrival due to traffic was noted in our telephone call and we were told not to worry. The vet, Keith, a lovely gentlemen, was so friendly towards us and our cat, showing compassion to the animal whilst having her vaccination. Thank you so much fo caring for our cat , Pocky. 😸

Took my very nervous dog to vets. The vet was very understanding and helpful. She offered us calming medication for his next visit, which was very welcome. Highly recommended

I first went to Gilmoor Vets in Durham to get advice about spaying my Labrador, Honey, who was going through a difficult false pregnancy. From the very beginning, Adele was incredibly kind, calm, and reassuring — not just with Honey, but with us as well. She provided clear guidance, prescribed the appropriate medication, and laid out a thoughtful plan in preparation for Honey’s surgery. This included helping us address her significant weight gain caused by the false pregnancy. Thanks to Adele’s advice and support, we saw some improvement before surgery. However, after the procedure, I continued to struggle with managing Honey’s weight. Adele didn’t give up on us — she created a personalised diet plan and recommended a specific food tailored to Honey’s needs. We stuck to it, bringing Honey in regularly for weigh-ins and body condition scoring. The results have been fantastic: Honey has gone from the top end of the body condition chart to a healthy weight and shape. She’s now full of energy, easily keeping up with other dogs — and even enjoying agility sessions! I can’t thank Adele enough for her expertise, patience, and genuine care. It’s clear she really wants the best for her patients. Best of all, Honey is always thrilled to see her — which makes vet visits so much easier! I would highly recommend Adele and the team at Gilmoor to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable veterinary care.
